Given EDD Pro now has VAT stuff built in, I’m inclined to try and get it done:

1. Do you have any recommendations for quickly getting prerequisite VAT # registration reliably for our industry ( online software licensing business like yours )?

2. What are the most cost effective and simple to use solutions that would work from EDD VAT report exports?

I assume you built this with your own needs in mind, so likely the output of the report exports is nearly perfect for at least one service provider to ingest and handle submissions to countries etc.

What is everyone else doing here now?

I almost jumped for joy when I saw the email about this blog post in my inbox. You wrote:

Ich dachte, dass meine unzähligen Gebete und Support-Anfragen an Amir, Mihai und den Rest des Teams endlich erhört wurden, und die Rechnungen wieder als angehängte PDF Dateien in meiner und der Inbox meiner Kunden landen.

Unfortunately, I then discovered that there was nothing new in this blog post. I have been adding the invoice tag for years, but it doesn’t help me much, when it’s about accounting. I really urgently need the physical PDF file attached to my emails, or at least a way for the file to be generated immediately upon payment, so that I can access it via Zapier or MAKE.

Why?

I have a lot of plugin sales and I have to generate the PDFs individually for my accounting every time, in order to attach them as proof. Do you know how much time this costs me 3 times a month? Hours!

You would help me if I had the PDFs physically, because:

As soon as the PDF is created and stored on the server, I could pass the file name to my accounting tool. With the payment received, the link to the proof would also be saved, and I could save 80% of my work, we’re speaking of at least 8-12 hours a month!

Because I’m unfortunately not getting anywhere with Amir and Mihai, I hope that someone from the team will finally get in touch with me so that we can automate the problem. Maybe you have an even better idea of how the PDF or the link to a generated PDF can be created and saved. I’m asking you again: Please help me already :-).

This is a missed opportunity. Your site is EDD but you mention themes for woo … WHY? I needed this post to help me choose an EDD theme. You failed me. Advice too generic as though you’re chasing “best wordpress themes” as your keywords. 🙁
You had an opportunity to nail the best themes for digital sales and dropped the ball by being too generic. Very disappointed and learned nothing new here. Boooooooo.

I love this plugin. It would be awesome if it were possible to attach PDFs on “Purchase Receipts” and “Subscription Renewal”. It would likely save the customer two steps, as many mail clients allow for viewing and downloading PDFs directly from their inbox, without even opening the email.

That sounds great and is a step in the right direction! What would also help me a lot to automate my entire workflow for accounting would be the ability to attach invoices as PDF back to the order confirmations, as was possible with the old plugin years ago.

This way, one could build a workflow via Zapier that uploads the attached PDF directly to the cloud, where the accounting department has access to it, without anyone needing to log into WordPress for that.

I have already asked support about it, but I don’t know if it has reached development.

Hello, I am having a hard time creating a digital product store on my website in UP. In fact, the hardest part for me is that the products are created in one place – in the EDD menu, while the site itself is created in a completely different place. I can’t connect these two things, i.e. to apply the created products to the desired place on my site. I work with Elementor Pro. I have tried so many other methods and each one is built on a different logic. I have never been able to adequately integrate the products created in the EDD menu into my site. Otherwise, all payment gateways and the entire EDD setup in general are working successfully, but somehow separately from my theme. I can’t combine them. It turns out that easy digital downloads turned out to be the most difficult thing I have done on the WEB so far and I am still stumbling and not succeeding. Please give me advice.

In reply to Sonia. Hi Sonia! You can only have one SSL certificate for your site, so if you have an active Let's Encrypt you're likely covered and don't need the Really Simple plugin. It could only help if you needed help enabling HTTPS or fixed mixed content errors. But SSL certificate wise, there's no need for both. I’ve created discount codes in the past and there is always a field that presents itself on the checkout screen to enter the discount code- however, when I went to test out a new product using the Purchase button and was brought to the checkout page, the Discount Code field was gone. I know this is an old post, however, I noticed my site is telling me in the “Site health” page: Your checkout page is configured; however, it is currently using the legacy [download_checkout] shortcode. We recommend changing your checkout to use the EDD Checkout Block.

But I cannot find any reference to a new block except on this page. I tried using [edd_checkout] and it does not work. I can’t find any reference in the documentation. Is the diagnostic message wrong?

Hi Casey,
it seem that this feature is static -so i can create one link and have it expire.

I would need to let my Survey Maker create an expiring link when a guest finishes a survey. So every guest gets his unique expiring link. Would pretty link be able to get called from a survey plugin (everest forms in this case).

p.s – aswell as trying to turn off the calendar sidebar on easy digital download pages – I cant seem to upload the ‘mobi’ file to the EDD download page, even though ive tried alternative file upload plugins!? all these glitches lol!

hello again Casey. So glad that someone is replying – much appreciated. I worked out that 2 plugins were causing the glitch on the checkout page (a3 lazy load & Seraphinite Accelerator)…..so now the checkout page works. um – my other problem though is I cant find the ‘page attributes/ template’ option on the EDD ‘downloads’ page/s to turn off the sidebar/ calendar. all wordpress pages have this option on the RHS of the page editor….but its not there in the EDD and I want to turn it off lol! thanks for your help 🙂

Um – I have reached out many many times over the last week….but have got no replies sadly. i hope your support is better/ different than most plugins and actually reply to their clients? maybe…as I am using the free version (too broke for paid version at this time) is the reason i dont get replies? if you can please help! maybe EDD is conflicting with another plugin potentially? are there any known plugins that do conflict? thank 🙂

hello! hows things?

Just last week I downloaded EDD and have got it setup basic on my website….so far so good…except for a stumbling block! each time a client goes to click on checkout (after adding an item)….it says the checkout is empty! yet – for me (in both test mode & not) – it works fine WHILE i am logged into wordpress. when i logout – my checkout is also empty! how do i fix this? i unchecked the stripe ‘must be logged in’ setting so its not that….please help asap!!

3 different installations of WooCommerce. 2 of them brand new. No other plug-ins. It doesn’t matter what configuration. There is always the message about “shipping options, not available” Support. Sucks. NONEXISTENT. So, I am trying the eCommerce Product Catalog, but there are no shipping options. There is no way to get live rates from any of the carriers. I am searching for a better option. Does anybody know one? I just tried Hostinger.com to try a hosted solution. Same junk No live calculated rates despite what they advertise

If the customer is told prior to purchase, and they sign a document indicating that they knew, that because they’re given a full trial the purchase will be refunded at 75% instead of 100% (25% “restocking” fee) to cover expenses, is that acceptable to merchant providers? My goal honestly is to get them to NOT purchase until they trial it and like it so that I can avoid the “it’s not working the way I thought it would” refund requests.

Hi Casey, I just signed up for Canva Pro and wanted to start a section on my website for selling Canva templates. I am using EDD, and still practicing to use Canva properly. I’ve been very impressed by how easy Canva is to use, it’s made that I have not touch Photoshop for a while. Does EDD support 2checkout as a gateway? It seems to be the best option to avoid PayPal. But not many services support 2checkout.

There is a mountain of information on how to set up EDD in the back end, but I can’t find examples of what EDD stores look like on the front end. Can you direct me to some EDD store examples? I’m redesigning my site and would like to improve my store. There aren’t many items and they are free. Nonetheless, I would like to have a nice looking store.

WordPress is in my opinion the best solution to create a site quickly. And Easy Digital Downloads the best plugin to sell digital products. I tested WooCommerce and other plugins, but EDD is the best.

Hi, I am having a problem with my easy digital downloads recurring payment, first the free trial is not working and it is charging the user immediately, which is supposed to be zero. Then when the user paid, it is not registered as a subscription on PayPal but just a one-time payment. What do you think is the issue?
